What is blogLinker.com?
blogLinker.com is a free tool for managing your web links and dramatically increasing your site traffic. It can be embedded anywhere in your web page and can be easily configured to fit the existing design of your site.

The list is perfect for weblogs like Blogger, but can be used on any type of website - even free ones or Geocities.

How do I start and maintain my list of links?
  1. Sign-up to blogLinker from the homepage

  2. Once registered, fill in your profile in 'EDIT YOUR PROFILE' and then go to 'GET CODE'. Add the special line of code to your webpage. Position as desired - you can embed the code in table cells, center-it etc.

  3. Start adding websites to your list of links in 'EDIT YOUR LINKS'. Paste in the full URL and click 'Add to List'. If the site is already member of blogLinker, then its details will be listed. Select it by clicking 'Use This'. Otherwise type in the site name and an optional description and click 'Add to List'.

  4. If the website you link to is also a member of blogLinker (and you clicked 'Use This' when ading them), then your website will automatically appear in their list of links, hence dramatically increasing the number of visitors to your site. You can hide sites from your list. The sites you hide will be made aware of this and vice versa.

  5. List entries can be edited or deleted, again in 'EDIT YOUR LIST'. If you use another site's details (name/description) you cannot edit the entry, (as the name/description is maintained by the site owner); you can only delete it. If you delete a reciprocated link, the link to your site is deleted in return. In other words, you can't add a bunch of links, delete them and still expect the linked-to sites to still link back to you. That wouldn't be fair now, would it?.

  6. Configure your list's look if you want in 'FORMAT YOUR LIST'. The results will appear on your webpage. Just click 'Reload'/'Refresh' to see the changes.

  7. People can add their site to your list by clicking a link at the bottom of your list in your webpage. Of course the link will be reciprocated, further promoting your site.

Can I advertise on bloglinker
If you want to get your message out to other like-minded, savvy web-users you can try banner-advertising on this website. Get in touch with me and we'll see if we can come to some arrangement. It's still early days, but we're looking at ~$1 per 1000 impressions.

How much does blogLinker cost?
It's free. I'm just doing this to see if it will actually work. That doesn't mean this is a budget job. blogLinker is underpinned by a serious hosting company, has lots of space and bandwidth and I have every intention of giving 100% support to blogLinker users.

How can I contact you?
You can email me for support/admin questions.

How can I change the look of my List?
This is very easy to do and actually quite fun (I clearly need to get out more often). Once you have copied & pasted your blogLinker code from your 'GET CODE' page into your chosen web page, you will be ready to experiment with the look and feel.

In your 'Format Your List' page (accessed after logging-in) you will see a set of 16 drop-down lists. Each list corresponds to a feature of your blogLinker, such as header font color or text size/type etc. You can either select a value from the drop-down list or enter your required value directly into the input box, just below each drop-down list, allowing for maximum configurability.

Click 'Save Changes' when you are ready. To test your changes, simply reload the web page into which you had previously copied the blogLinker code.

Can I create and display categories?
You can display different lists with different categories if you want. Here's how to do it:
  1. Create one or more categories, simply by typing a name in the category field of any list entry in the 'Edit Your List' page.

  2. Change the code you previously copied into your blog/webpage to:
    <script language=JavaScript src="http://www.bloglinker.com/query.php?id=YOURID&cat=CATEGORY NAME&cat2=CATEGORY2 NAME"></script>

i.e. simply add "&cat=category_name..." to the end of the standard code in the box above. Note the single quote ('  ') marks could be used instead of double quotes ("  ").
Example:
Say you had a list which included blogs/websites on soccer, tennis and American football amongst many other things and you wanted to display only certain list entries. You would create categories like "soccer", "tennis" and "am fball" for the relevant list entries. To display a list of only soccer, your code would look like:

<script language=JavaScript src="http://www.bloglinker.com/query.php?id=YOURID&cat=soccer"></script>

To display a list of tennis AND American football, your code would look like:

<script language=JavaScript src="http://www.bloglinker.com/query.php?id=YOURID&cat=soccer&cat2=am fball"></script>

Note:
  • Remember the use of double quotes in the code, or single quotes if that's your system.
  • Yes, spaces are allowed in category names, but only if you use the quotes
  • Yes, you can have as many category names as you want in your code
